| Dormant assets in Switzerland from before May 9, 1945 Home > Basics > Swiss bank secrecy > Dormant accounts > Pre 1945 The names of bank customers dating prior to May 9, 1945 were published internationally in July and October 1997. The lists contain 5,570 names of non-Swiss individuals with a total balance of 67 million Swiss francs. A third and final list of names will soon be published by the Independent Committee of Eminent Persons, chaired by Mr. Volker. If your name or the name of one of your family members appears on one of these lists, you can still reach one of the contact offices for class action plaintiffs against Swiss banks. If your name does not appear on one of these three lists, there is no other means of recourse: research conducted by historians is deemed exhaustive for the period prior to 1945. The Swiss Bankers Association has placed ATAG Ernst & Young, Basle, in charge of receiving claims for assets for which the bank’s files show no evidence of customer contact since May 9, 1945. In the meantime, 7,300 people have filed over 9,000 claims relating to names on these lists. For information on the list of published names or to make a claim, contact:
A Claims Resolution Tribunal has been set up in Zurich to review claims. For information on a claim that has already been submitted, contact the resolution tribunal:
